How often do you come across a situation when you have to walk up the stage, deliver a speech or receive an appreciation. While most of the people relate stage fear to the fear of speaking in public, stage fear could also mean fear of just being on the stage.

Let's look at a few focal stage fright areas and how to deal with them:
- Fear of being appreciated in public: Well the fear is not of being appreciated but before a crowd. Often people are anxious about receiving an appreciation which could be an award or recognition in an assembly or event. The fright of being not able to respond to the moment or to give a garnished thank you speech could be another fear. Often language acts as a barrier and humility could be one of the reasons.
- Fear of Hosting a show: Normally hosts do not come across the fear of speaking in public. However, the fear could be of an unknown and uncertain crowd. Hosting requires a lot of “street smart skills” so that a host can come up to any impromptu situation.
- Fear of delivering a lecture: Unless you are well aware of the topic or subject which you are going to deliver, you will not e able to overcome this fear. See to it that you are well prepared and are able to support your speech with add-on presentations
- Fear of public speaking: Usually seen among professionals and bureaucrats. You might possess the complete knowledge of a topic but might not have the proper vocals to deliver or might lose out on the content our of the fear of being judged.
How to deal with it:
- A reciprocal appreciation for recognizing your efforts could be the right thing.
- If you are having language issues then get a small note prepared from a friend that can be delivered.
- If you think vocabulary could put you down, then choose short and simple words that are easy to frame into statements.
- Try to be your normal self. Do not put up with a lot of makeup or with unwanted etiquette's.
- Before a speech ensure that you are aware of the crowd size and the cream crowd so that you are assured of whom you are going to deliver.
- An add-on tool such as power-point presentations or video content is a must. It attracts and keeps the crowd in touch with the topic being delivered.
- Always put your mobile phone aside so that it does not disturb you mentally.
- Hand notes could also help you through connecting your topics and ensure that you do not lose the path
- Always keep a note of the time allotted and time left. Do not sink a lot into a story so much so that you forget the main topic to be dealt
- Do not be lurking in the washroom due to anxiety or do not end up drinking lots of water. It can make u feel dizzy. (P.S. Do not forget to flush in the midst of anxiety)
